Běžná cena 295,00 Kč

Burka Coffee Estate was established in 1899 by German settlers near the city of Arusha in northern Tanzania. The neighboring estate Selian was established in 1910 and Burka acquired it in 1991. The first coffee trees were planted as early as 1918. 314 acres are reserved for forests and another 250 acres for natural pastures. At Burka, there are around 200 permanent employees, another 200 casual day employees and up to 5,000 temporary employees involved in harvesting and sorting the harvest. All permanent employees are provided accommodation on estates with a salary set at least 20% above the minimum government requirements.

Employees have social security and union membership included in their contracts, and have access to loans and advice on education, health and home building. Each homestead has its own nursery which educates over 100 children, and two primary schools also cater for over 600 children from the farm staff and neighboring communities. All staff have access to a health center with a nurse and an infirmary. The farm also has its own clinic, shops, sports facilities, churches and a mosque. Interstate and intercamp football and netball matches are held regularly, along with community barbecues and other festive celebrations.

Burka's staff have a wealth of agronomic experience and over many decades the farm has built a reputation for consistently producing fine Arabica coffees characterized by subtle acidity with flavors of lemon, chocolate and caramel.

This coffee is dark roasted and is perfect for preparing espresso and espresso drinks with milk. We also roast Burka & Selian coffee light for the preparation of filtered coffee and more acidic espresso drinks.
