Masanganzira Mill is located in Gashosho Municipality, Muyinga Province, just a few minutes drive from Ikawa Nziza Dry Mill. It is managed by Pierre, a relatively large farmer by Burundian standards. Pierre started producing coffee using the dry method in 2020 and not long after he built a washing station to process the washed coffee. This batch is a combination of coffee from Pierre's farm and coffee from other local small farmers who supply beans to his washing station.
This batch is exported by Ikawa Nziza, which started in 2013 as a partnership between the mill owners Cafex and Schluter, specifically aimed at building and promoting the production of fine coffee in Burundi. The Ikawa Nziza Mill is Burundi's first purpose-built specialty mill located at a higher altitude and designed to deliver high quality micro-lot coffees.
This coffee is lightly roasted and is great for alternative coffee preparation, but also for espresso. We also roast Masanganzira coffee darkly . It is most suitable for espresso and espresso drinks with milk.
